Modern Thanksgiving Table : Decor & Style

Sharing with you one of my design boards & write up published in the popular Local County Magazines : Williamson County Real Estate Magazine.

It's November & Fall is just around the corner. So is one of the most awaited Holidays - Thanksgiving !
When you think of this  family & friends oriented event, you think of a table filled with food & treats around which you gather & give thanks. More often than not, the table decor is all reds, woodsy greens and dark shades with very heavy accents covering every inch of the table.

So this year I decide to share my vision of a Thanksgiving table...with a fresh modern twist. I have tried to keep the warmth & celebratory concept but with accents and styling that is more suited to the contemporary lifestyle.

Here is the design board I created ( which is then altered slightly by the editor for the final print ) :

And here is the write up ...

Thanksgiving is a lovely day to gather with family & friends and be thankful for what we have. If you would like to freshen up the table décor traditions a bit, here’s how …
1. Contemporary Neutrals : Play up soft muted shades like beige, gray & tan with a mix of textures & patterns. Avoid traditional festive colors like oranges, greens & reds.

2. A Touch of Gold : Accent with gold to bring in casual elegance to the table. Flatware in muted gold are a rage now.

3. No Fuss Style : Keep it simple. Basic layering with a table runner & sleek centerpieces like a bunch of thin candle stands should do the trick.

4. Organic Accents : Complement the fall décor with guided pears & pumpkins. Berries, branches & other natural pieces with metallic finish work great.

5. Wood Tones : The harvest décor is incomplete without natural wood tones. Show off the chunky wood table. It’s a perfect complement to the modern color palette.
This is how the 2 page feature in the magazine looks like ...

You can access the digital version of the magazine here : Wilco Real Estate Magazine , November 2015

Hope you enjoyed the article. What will your table look like this year ?

Happy Thanksgiving !
