Retro Kitchen - Styling & Essentials

I was recently invited by Big Chill to join in on their Color of the Month project. The colors to showcase were 2016's Pantone Colors - Rose Quartz & Serenity ... basically a Soft Pink & a Glacial Blue.

This was the perfect inspiration for my  '5 Styling Essential series ' on my blog. The Retro Stove series from the Big Chill became my focal point and the starting point for my style boards. The stoves come in a wonderful array of colors and hues like turquoise , jadite green , and buttercup yellow . The appliances are designed with a touch of both industrial & a vintage flair lending to the oh-so awesome retro vibe ! I must say they are pretty versatile and with a lil' bit of creative inspiration can be be the star of any Kitchen.

I have picked 5 Styling elements to complement the gorgeous stoves that will go in 2 Kitchens styled with 2 different styles / themes and set in completely different landscapes.

So here is my Retro Kitchen Style Board # 1 ...

Urban + Retro Kitchen

I picked the Beach Blue ( for Pantone's Serenity ) from Big Chill's Collection of 36" Retro Stoves ...
Picture this kitchen in an apartment in the city. The retro vibe is complemented with Urban accents like the graphic geometric patterns of  the tiles , the black matte finish Industrial Lamp, and the chrome of the planters. The classic black & white combo creates a perfect backdrop for the vibrant Beach Blue Stove ... almost celebrating it. The wood on the bar stools and counter-top accessories like the utensils and the holder brings in warmth to the design palette. I went for a pretty minimalist styling approach with an Urban Casual vibe !

And here is my Retro Kitchen Style Board # 2 ...

Country + Retro Kitchen

Picked the Pink Lemonade ( for Pantone's Rose Quartz ) ...
Now, imagine this Kitchen in a Country Ranch Home. Here I paired the Pink Lemonade Retro Stove with a traditional yet classy neutral palette. The Modern Farm inspired wall art with the rooster & goat , the simple shape of the hanging pendant lamps , and the striped dishtowels in gray and white bring the "country vibe" into the space. The bar stool in wood with the concrete seat adds a touch of Modern. A pink vintage cake stand on the counter would be a lovely addition to the design of this ' heart of the home ' .

So here we are... 2 Retro Stoves from Big Chill , one in a Country Farm House and another one set in the City Condo. Which one do you like more ? If I had to choose, I would probably go with the Urban Retro Inspiration Board.

It was exciting to be able to do this project and join in the fun with Big Chill. Thanks Lisa.
